Inej Ghafa is a 16-year-old spy, also known as “The Wraith”. She is reserved and quiet, but unafraid to speak her opinion. She is also mentally strong and ambitious and can do anything if she puts her mind to it. Inej has exceptional climbing skills, agility and body coordination. Her skills also include walking tightropes, scaling walls, lurking in shadows, and deftly breaking in and out of places. Her gift for stealth makes her an amazing spy, as she never makes a sound when she moves. Her weapons are numerous knives which she hides in her arms and thighs, ready for a fight.

Inej is of suli heritage and was raised performing with her family as an acrobat. She was captured by slavers when she was fourteen and forced to work in "the Menagerie" for over a year. Kaz later met her there and, impressed by her stealth, bought her contract and gave her the option of joining the Dregs. She accepted the offer and was soon known as “the Wraith”, someone to fear and take precautions against.
